This Matar paneer recipe is based on a dish originally made by the Maharajas of Mewar. This famous Maharajas owned a dairy farm in Rajasthan. How to make matar paneer
Matar paneer is easy to make. This dish can be made either from fresh peas (usually sold in the summer), or frozen peas. A fresh matar paneer recipe starts with boiling fresh green peas in a little water. Once they're boiling, add cheddar cheese and matar, which is cottage cheese. If you'd prefer to make your matar paneer from frozen peas, then simply add the frozen peas into the mixture and heat it up. Matar paneer is one of the most popular Indian curries, and is generally served with rice, roti or paratha. Matar Paneer Recipe, Paneer Matar Masala
INGREDIENTS
- Cottage cheese (paneer) - 250g
- Green peas - 80g
- Onion Paste - 2 tbsp
- Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
- Shahi Paneer masala /Garam masala - 1 teasp
- Coriander powder - 1 teasp
- Red chilli Powder - 1 teasp
- Turmeric Powder - 1 teasp
- Salt - 1 tbsp
- Bay leaves - 2
- Tomato puree - 1 Cup
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Ghee - 2 tbsp
- Sugar (optional) - ½ teasp
- Water - 1 cup
- Heat 2 tablespoon oil and ghee in a pan. Put bayleave, saute few seconds. Add the ginger garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
- Add onion paste and roast till golden brown
- Now add tomato puree, turmeric powder, red chilly powder and mix well.
- Add the coriander leaves, green chilli and green peas. Mix well and keep stirring for 4-5 minutes until the mixture turns into a thick paste. (Keep low flame.
- Add shahi paneer masala, mix everything well. Now add water and bring it to boil
- Add cottage cheese (paneer)cand saute well
- Cook 5 mins on low flame
- Lastly add sugar and cook 1 min
- Ready to Serve with Rice, roti, chapati, paratha, naan, etc...
